Occipital Hold

The forehead–occipital hold is a simple somatic practice that uses bilateral, steady touch to create a sense of internal holding. By gently placing one hand on the forehead and one on the occipital ridge (the base of the skull), the nervous system receives a clear signal of safety, coherence, and support.

What This Practice Does

This hold creates a felt sense of front–back containment of the head and nervous system. It helps quiet excessive mental activity while simultaneously supporting the brainstem and vagal pathways that govern rest, digestion, and emotional regulation.

This is a somatic intervention when your mind is loud
