Neuro-Somatic Health with Diana May

How does your brain and body communicate with each other?  And, how can we improve that communication?  This workshop will explore the nervous system from the lens of how the brain actually receives information from the senses.  We will explore simple and practical ways to utilize our brains and our bodies to create a greater sense of coherence in our system.

This workshop will be part lecture & discussion and part practice.  Movement will be all levels and optional.  No need for any specific equipment or clothing.

Diana May is a yoga teacher with a passion for holistic wellbeing.  A teacher since 2009, she has taught over 10,000 hours and specializes in neuro-somatic health, trauma resolution and injury prevention.  Her goal is to provide space where people can be with themselves as they are in the present moment.  She helps people move with less pain and more love.  Outside of yoga, Diana is an environmentalist, nature lover, community organizer, loves to lounge around, has two cats and hopes to try motorcycle camping this summer.  www.dianamay.com

Neuro Somatic Pleasure Practice

In this 75 minute virtual class you will learn effective, accessible neuro-somatic practices to enhance psycho-emotional and physical well-being. This class weaves together neurology, emotional freedom techniques, and somatic movement to establish more safety in the nervous system and promote more ease, calm, and regulation.

Our capacity to thrive is driven by the mind+ body relationship, when shift what’s being communicated between brain and body from messages of stress to messages of pleasure, our capacity expands. WHen we connect with sensations of pleasure in the body, our nervous system sends messages of safety to the brain. Some examples of pleasure include:

-a subtle expansion in. your chest

-a warm sensation in your belly

-a grounding sensation in your feet or pelvic bowl

When we gain fluency in the language of our nervous system, the language of sensation, we are able to start our journey to heal stress and trauma where they exist, in the body. When we combine this with practices to enhance sensory input through neurology, we can more easily hear the stories our body is trying to tell us.

This class combines the wisdom and expertise of three incredible teachers:

Jennifer Wallace + Elisabeth Kristof, co-hosts of the Trauma Rewired Podcast

Veronica Rottman of Waking Womb

You can read more about our teachers and what they will be teaching below.

Elisabeth Wallace

Elisabeth Kristof, MA, is an expert in nervous system health for trauma resolution and behavior change. She is the founder of Brain-Based Wellness, an online platform that trains the nervous system and body to resolve old patterns, improve performance and increase well-being. She is co-host of the Trauma Rewired podcast that teaches you about your nervous system, how trauma lives in the body and what you can do to heal.

Elisabeth is a certified applied neurology practitioner who has been in the wellness industry since 2007. She works with entrepreneurs, athletes, leaders and creatives to improve resilience, manage stress and regulate emotions through intentional, science-based brain training.

Her research and work with hundreds of clients taught her that healing and change must occur in both the body and the mind, that each body, mind, and nervous system is unique, and most importantly, that with the right tools, we are all capable of healing.

She is also the founder of Neuro-Somatic Intelligence Certification, an ICF-accredited course that teaches leading-edge, somatic coaching that creates client transformation from the body to the brain.

In the first part of this workshop, Elisabeth Kristof, founder of Neuro-Somatic Intelligence Coaching, will guide you through a short applied neurology practice, focusing on the cranial nerves.

Stress can significantly impact your nervous system, creating a ripple effect on your overall well-being. These tools are not just about relaxation; they are about creating a foundation of safety within your own body.

These easy to implement, practical techniques realign your nervous system. By enhancing clarity and accuracy in sensory inputs, you're paving the way for a calmer, more centered existence.

The magic of these tools lies in their ability to regulate your nervous system, and provide clearer inputs to your brain. This prepares the nervous system for diving deeper into emotional and somatic pleasure practices. Why does this matter? Because the journey to experiencing pleasure starts with feeling safe and connected within yourself.

When you hear the stories Jennifer has overcome, you understand why she is in the Healing Arts. She is an expert in behavior change, somatic release, and subconscious rewiring on every level from your Nervous system, your Emotional body, and your Spiritual body

Jennifer Wallace is the intersection of mind, body, and spirit healing. She is an expert in nervous system health and regulation  As a psychedelic facilitator she bridges the power of your Nervous System into sacred spaces and guides women home to their truest self. She is the cohost of Trauma Rewired and an educator for the Neuro-Somatic Intelligence Coaching certification.

Jennifer Wallace

The second part of the work shop will be working with the emotional body with Jennifer Wallace. She will lead you through a gentle EFT, emotional release practice, intended to create safety around meeting your pelvic floor.

Our pelvic bowl often carries the burden of being a deep well for repressed emotions. We live in a world that wants to keep us disconnected from our bodies and our emotions but this only furthers dissociation and shame while pushing down grief and anger.

With a gentle EFT practice we will connect safely and begin supporting the body in releasing. There are many self protective responses that your body will use to keep these emotions down but the repressing of emotions has dangerous consequences in the body.

Veronica Rottman

Veronica is an expert in Somatic Nervous System Healing for trauma resolution. She is the founder of Waking Womb, a practice dedicated to trauma resolution through somatics. Her areas of specialty are the female nervous system, women’s trauma, pelvic health + embodiment, somatic attachment and boundary ruptures. Veronica has held space for thousands internationally through her virtual offerings and retreats.

In the third part of the Neuro Somatic Pleasure Practice class Veronica will guide you through somatic movement to elicit more fluency in the language of the nervous system and enhance your capacity for ease, clarity and calm. As an ambassador of pleasure, Veronica will teach you how pleasure opens more capacity for safety in the nervous system via the somatic channel of movement.

Moving with The Goddess

Are you looking for a deeper connection between your body and your intuition?

In our modern world we often find ourselves disconnected from our bodies.

We are led to believe that our minds have the leading role in how we structure our lives and that our bodies are just a way to check boxes and complete tasks.

This disconnection can leave us feeling…

  • Unsatisfied with our daily life. We find ourselves to be busy but never satisfied with how we spend out time.

  • Frustrated by the constant push of the mind to perform and produce.

  • Anxious about all the ways life can go wrong and yet never present for the times life goes well.

The solution dwells within the core of you. Deep within all of us resides the energy of the Goddess.

This series explores the energy of goddess through the triple-goddess cycle of life; maiden, mother and crone.

As we explore the goddess in each of these phases we will weave our own stories with hers and create opportunity for healing through somatic practices.

Embodying the goddess means building more felt-sense relationship to the body, to the archetypal qualities of the goddess and all her incarnations.

Creating a safe place within the body to receive the guidance and wisdom of the divine that lives within.

Maybe you’ve heard her beckon to you to reconnect, to look to her for guidance?

When the feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction consume your thoughts she offers her gifts of empathy, sensuality and raw feminine power to fuel you beliefs that life could look different.

Embodied Goddess energy looks like…

  • Creating safety in the body to experience emotion and also release the experience

  • Making decisions based on sensual feedback vs. solely the mind and ego

  • Living an embodied existence where the present moment becomes a place of personal power

    What you can expect

    Connect through story…

  • Hear the stories of the goddess as…

    -Maiden

    -Mother

    -Crone

Revisit your own experiences during these phases of life or monthly cycle and identify places where you can open to healing and empowerment.

    …embody story through

  • Somatic practices.

  • As stories are told and memories activated, our bodies remember and respond.

  • Somatic practices allow the mind and body to slow way down so that the full experience can be witnessed and processed.

These practices offer time and space for your journey to be powerfully witnessed and for you nervous system to start moving toward more capacity for regulation.

Somatic Self-Love Date

Self-love is a primarily taught as a concept, as a thought-process that one must cognitively focus on in order to feel. Or perhaps, it’s sold as a fancy self-care routine that must be consumed.

In reality, truly loving ourselves arrives through a felt-sense in our body. Most of us need practice in connecting with this felt-sensation in our soma as we tend to habitually operate from our minds.

In this 2 hour online class you will gain an understanding of how self-love is felt and cultivated somatically, through the nervous system. Tending to our soma and nourishing our nervous system heals the parts of us that resist self-love, and enriches our capacity to experience more joy, confidence, and capacity to live the life we desire.

Class will also include some self-pleasure practices to explore as well.

Somatic Parenting

These days parents are inundated with parenting advice, tips and tricks. It can be hard to know where to start and even more difficult to integrate this information. That’s where somatics comes in, to help us actually heal our own nervous system and embody that which we wish our children to learn. So that it inherently shows up from within, versus having to put the extra effort into reaching outside of yourself to perform parenting the way you’re “supposed” to.

Pelvic Mapping at the Periphery

To register send $50 on venmo (Veronica-Constance) or Zelle (vcrottman@gmail.com)

Class will be held virtually on zoom

Veronica created Pelvic Mapping at the Periphery as an opportunity for students to heal and strengthen their pelvic embodiment and pelvic health journey without practicing any internal-self massage. In this 2 hour group class, students will experience a trauma-informed healing approach to create new neural pathways that lead them back to pelvic embodiment, and to strengthen the pelvic floor through releasing chronic tension. Students will learn anatomy, nervous-system regulation, as well as lessons on the pelvic bowl aimed to debunk mainstream myths and misconceptions. Next we will dive into movement, breath, yoga and embodiment practices through which students will begin mapping their pelvic bowl and all layers of self. By starting at the outer edges of the pelvic bowl and gently making our way to our root, we will engage in deep conversations with our bodies own consent. Then, with cameras off students will be guided to self-massage of the external tissues of the pelvic bowl: outer hips, glutes, adductors (inner thighs), mound of venus, outer labia, perineum.

Students will always be guided to listen for their bodies consent, and given instructions for alternative options when needed.

This class is for those who: want a deeper understanding of the anatomical and physical nature of the pelvic bowl, pelvic floor, and womb. Students will walk away equipped with a practice for tending to their pelvic floor/bowl for a lifetime of vitality.

It is also for those who want to heal their relationship with their pelvic bowl.

This class is excellent for those preparing to give birth, or recovering postpartum. Students will be guided through self-massage of any scar tissue from tears or episiotomies.

The Throne: A Pelvic Embodiment Immersion

♕The Throne is a trauma-informed pelvic embodiment immersion rooted in providing pathways back to the seat of our own power; in our pelvic throne. In the company of fellow cyclical beings, we will unlearn together all the conditioning that disconnects us from our pelvic bowl, our menstrual cycle and pleasure body. Through studying anatomy, embodiment practices, yoga, breathe-work, self-massage, pelvic steaming and titrated pelvic mapping, we will dive deep and re-inhabit this space in our body. The pelvic bowl provides an inner compass, that when aligned with, helps us evolve and grow the life we desire to live. The immersion will be lead by Veronica, as well as two special guest lecturers.

Immersion dates and outline:

All classes will be taught on Saturdays from 10:30-12:30pm cst on zoom

☾Saturday June 5th : Opening circle & Mayan Abdominal Self-Massage class (taught by Katie Dougherty)

☾Saturday June 19th: Anatomy of the Pelvic Floor (taught by Casie Danenhauer Humble)

☾Saturday June 26th: Pelvic Mapping (self-massage of the external and internal pelvic bowl)

What is Pelvic Mapping?: Pelvic Mapping is a practice centered around restoring balance to the tissues of the pelvic bowl: the vulva, vagina, & pelvic floor. Through guided breathwork, meditation, as well as external and internal massage students release chronic tension, weakness, trigger points and dehydrated tissue in the pelvic bowl. Pelvic Mapping restores vital blood and nerve flow to the pelvic floor and surrounding anatomy for more strength, sensation and embodied connection.

All participants will receive herbs for pelvic steaming, access to recorded pelvic embodiment meditations, slides and more. All classes will be recorded except for the Mayan Abdominal Massage Class.
